Shopping & Services in the Cotswolds
Shopping in the Cotswolds can be broken down into two main areas – essential items you need to buy while on holiday and other items which are good to buy as gifts. You’ll be pleased to know that shopping in this region offers you everything you could ever want.
Markets are perennial favourites in the Cotswolds, and wherever you happen to be staying you should be able to find a market nearby that is open one or more days of the week. Make a point of seeing whether they sell local produce as well – this should give you some ideas for creating tasty meals if you happen to be staying in self catering accommodation.
There are plenty of shops in nearby Cheltenham, including the Regent Arcade. But you don’t need to go to big towns to go shopping in this area. Every village has its own unique mix of shops as well.
Take Chipping Campden for example. Like many other villages it has a cycle shop that will hire out bikes for a single day or longer – you can even try a tandem if you like!
Villages tend to have smaller and locally owned shops as well as larger chain stores, so watch out for the mix of delights you will discover around every corner. Wherever you happen to stay, try and get a guide to the local area so you can see when and where the markets are on as well. This should put you in the best possible position for enjoying every part of shopping in the Cotswolds.
